How to get from

Location & Contact

Hotel near Merrion Square and Grand Canal in Dublin

O’Callaghan Alexander Hotel is located on the corner of Merrion Square; Grand Canal, Trinity College, the RDS, Dublins Convention Centre, Government Buildings, Aviva Stadium are all located within walking distance from the hotel. Ideally placed for business districts of the Financial services and many of Dublins main cultural and shopping areas. It is easily accessable from all modes of transport and is just 20 minutes from Dublin International Airport.


The hotel is located 15kms from Dublin International Airport or approximately 20 minutes by taxi travelling at off peak times.

Via Airlink (between 30 - 60 minutes):

The Airlink 757 is a new route from Dublin Bus which serves the south side of Dublin City, and goes as far as Camden (Charlotte Way and Harcourt Street), with stops at Grand Canal Dock, Pearse Street, Merrion Square, St. Stephen’s Green, Earlsfort Terrace and Adelaide road.

There is a stop beside the Davenport, Mont Clare, Alexander and Stephen’s Green Hotel.

Buses are every 20 minutes and tickets are €6 for a single or €10 return.

Via Taxi: (20 – 45 minutes depending on time of day)

There is a taxi rank at the airport just outside the main door of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. You can easily get a taxi from here at day or night and it will cost approximately €25.00/€30.00 depending on traffic.

Via Car: (20 – 45 minutes depending on time of day)

You can travel via the city centre or the toll bridge. At peak times we recommend going via the toll.


Via LUAS (up to 20 minutes):

From Heuston station the LUAS will bring you to Connolly station from where a DART service to Pearse Street station can be taken. Pearse Street station is a 2 minute walk from the Alexander Hotel. A taxi from Heuston Station to the hotel would take approx 10-20 minutes.


The Alexander Hotel is located in the city centre and there are a number of bus routes which pass the hotel, please contact reception for advice on which bus is most suitable for your journey.


Via Car (up to 20 minutes):

The hotel is located approx 10km from Dun Laoghaire ferry terminal, approximately 17 minutes by car.


When you arrive in Dun Laoghaire, take DART rail service in the direction of the city centre to Pearse Street station which is closest to the hotel. When you reach the station entrance turn left on Westland Row and continue to the end of the street. Turn left and follow the road onto Fenian Street where The Alexander Hotel is on your Left, (this walk will take approximately 3 minutes).


Via Car (up to 20 minutes):

Dublin Ferry Terminal is 7km from the hotel, approximately 15 minutes by car via the quays.
